  We are Sheffield Abbeydale Rotary, part of Rotary International one of the worlds largest charitable, membership organisations. We provide support and service to a variety of good causes locally, nationally and globally. 

As one of the largest and most active clubs in our District 1220, with 45 members, a Twinning link with the Rotary Club of Bochum-Renaissance in Germany and we are always looking for projects and challenges.

Today Rotarians number 1.2 million, belonging to 35,000 Rotary Clubs in 200 countries and have dedicated themselves to many worthwhile causes such as the eradication of the dreaded disease polio.  Driven by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and Rotary International, polio is no longer rampant and is found in ever decreasing numbers in only 3 countries. Rotary is working to meet society’s changing needs, expanding its service to address such pressing issues as environmental degradation, illiteracy, world hunger, and children at risk. 

The Abbeydale club is a charitable organization was formed in 1958 and we have an active membership of 45 men and women, with professional and business backgrounds which represent the community we serve. Diversity and inclusion is not new to us but we do not provide a platform for any particular group. We give our services both directly and through Volunteering to other organizations in the furtherance of Rotary objectives.  

Meetings are held on Wednesday, weekly at the Abbeydale Sports Club, Abbeydale Park, Sheffield S17 3L J  12.45 to 2.30 pm. with  lunch served at 1 .o’clock. On the last Wednesday of the month we have an evening meeting for those who cannot make daytime meetings.

Our meeting agenda normally includes reference to current activities and a brief talk from a guest speaker. It is an opportunity for members to meet and discuss just about anything in an atmosphere of mutual trust and friendliness. Our activities are organised through the various committees for example Sheffield Young  Artists our flagship project for over 20 years is part of the Vocational Committee.
